Saraki Targets Buhari Loyalists In Senate Committee Chairmen Reschuffle
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday reshuffled heads of four standing committees in the Nigerian Senate, obviously targeting supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr. Saraki, announced the reschuffle at the end of plenary, redeploying the Chairman, Senate Committee on Police, Abu Ibrahim (APC, Katsina State) to the Committee on Labour, while Tijjani Kaura (APC, Zamfara) replaces him.
Mr. Ibrahim is deemed to be a staunch supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari and close to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, who has been having running battle with the Senate.
The immediate past Senate Majority Leader, Ali Ndume (APC, Borno), according to the announcement, will now head the Committee on Establishment and the newly sworn-in APC senator from Bauchi State, Lawal-Yahaya Gumau will chair the Committee on Federal Character.
